Ocean, Inc. Senior Isolation Transportation Program

Do you know an Ocean County senior who has lost a loved one or friend through death or relocation, has a lack of close family ties, lives alone, has difficulties meeting new people due to access issues, has introverted personalities or feeling that they don’t belong, feelings of loss or grief, poor physical health, fragility, mobility issues and/or a mental health condition such as depression or anxiety? The effects on their physical and emotional health can lead to substance use – Increased consumption of alcohol, smoking, medications, drugs, and/or negative feelings – Feelings of worthlessness, hopelessness, or thoughts about suicide.

Through the Ocean Inc. Senior Isolation Transportation Program, qualified Ocean County seniors ages 60-100 will be able to get out and about to regular outings for social functions, exercise, visit friends, make linkages to social services, medical care, shop at public places to help them become connected. They can get involved in their community – try a new (or old) hobby, join a club, enroll in a study or learn a new skill, volunteer to help others to feel connected to the community.

Through this program, O.C.E.A.N., Inc. Case Managers work with EZ Ride who will provide transportation services (Uber/Lyft) to qualified Ocean County seniors. The seniors who receive transportation (Uber/Lyft) must meet the income guidelines (125% or below poverty Guidelines) which are attached to this email. The 2020 CSBG Poverty Guidelines will be available on January 20-24, 2020.
