Heat Hub NJ / Chill Out NJ

As summer temperatures rise, New Jersey residents, particularly those without access to air conditioning at home or work, look for places to beat the heat. Chill Out NJ is a one-stop interactive map designed to help New Jerseyans find oases from the heat near where they live, work, and play. Use Chill Out NJ to search a variety of public, free or low-cost options to keep cool during the "dog days of summer."  The map provides locator information (address and website) and directions via Google Maps, where available.

Public indoor spaces like libraries and senior centers can provide a needed break from the heat along with additional communal and social opportunities. These can include family- or children-focused reading or craft events and adult/senior education programs. In addition, these indoor spaces often offer access to free Wi-Fi and computer use. In addition to libraries, senior centers, state and county parks, and lake and ocean beaches, Chill Out NJ also includes a comprehensive listing of public and municipal pools and spray parks throughout New Jersey.

The new CHILL OUT NJ App is brought to you by The NJ Interagency Council on Climate Resilience.
The Interagency Council on Climate Change Resilience, unique in its collaborative structure, is tasked with formulating short- and long-term action plans that will increase the resilience of New Jersey's economy, communities, infrastructure, and natural resources to climate change.
