Grounded in the Present: An Interactive Workshop

Mom2Mom's "Grounded in the Present" workshop explores common sources of stress for special needs caregivers, and provides practical tools for emotional regulation and mindfulness.

The program includes a special take-home scented sugar scrub, customized by each participant as a personal grounding tool.

About the Presenters:

Brett Keller is a Supervising Mental Health Specialist with the National Center for Peer Support at Rutgers University Behavioral Health Care.  He has spent more than a decade in emergency medical services and emergency communications.  With a background in Biology and Biochemistry from Rutgers University and The Ohio State University, he is passionate about the science of stress, its far-reaching impacts on physical and mental health, and its specific presentations in the first responder and healthcare worker community.

Danielle Hewitt is a Licensed Professional Counselor and National Certified Counselor with over a decade of experience supporting individuals and families across clinical, crisis, and community settings.  She is the Mental Health Clinician for the statewide helplines Mom2Mom and Worker2Worker at Rutgers University Behavioral Healthcare, helping caregivers of children with special needs and DCF workers access compassionate care and resources. Danielle has served various populations including college students, individuals with intellectual/developmental disabilities and/or severe mental illness, children and families, and survivors of domestic violence.  As a parent of a child with special needs, Danielle brings both professional experience and personal insight, with a passion for fostering resilience, empowerment, and growth.
