Ocean County Youth Advocate Program is introducing a new psycho-therapeutic group for teens aged 12-17. This group will be for those who have lost a parent or sibling to any type of substance use disorder.
The overwhelming number of overdoses throughout Ocean County has created a need of services for families left behind. The stigma associated with addiction, results in disenfranchised grief which, over time could lead to complicated grief. These unresolved emotions can lead to long term behavioral health issues. The goal of our group is to reduce stigma, normalize the disenfranchised grief and begin healthy grieving which is a lifelong process for those left behind.
